Spirograph wheels, felt tip pens, blotting paper, tippex, biros and grah paper sound more like the contents of a teenagers schoolbag than the materials of an artists. But, in this exhibition of recent work by Lesley Halliwell, a lecturer in fine art at the University of Chester, they have been transformed into bright and exuberant abstract drawings and paintings, exploring pattern, colour, repetition and the tension between chaos and control. |
